Lowercase V Craft: Vase

We decided to make a vase out of our letter v. It wasn’t a particularly inventive idea but we had fun with it and were happy with the end result.

Materials: one sheet of white paper, one letter v cut out of construction paper, one piece of blue tissue paper, some toilet paper rolls cut into stamps, paint, glue, and a green marker.

We used the same toilet paper roll stamps from Getting Messy With Ms. Jessi that we used for our lion craft. The girls really enjoy them. I folded our paper in half to keep the flowers at the top and I had some extra paper and paint brushes handy because my girls were not ready to stop painting after three measly flower stamps. I set the papers out to dry while they did a lot more painting.

Once the flowers were dry we drew some stems with green marker and glued a small sheet of blue tissue paper to our papers to act as the water.

The final step was adding our construction paper v’s. This craft required a little bit of logic as the girls needed to think about where the v would go so they could draw their stems and place their tissue paper in the correct position. I think Boo did a pretty good job of getting her stems in the vase.

And I love how Kooks’s flowers look like they are blowing in a breeze.

We are up to sixteen letters now and the girls are so proud of their letter walls, but we didn’t spend much time reviewing our letter sounds during summer camp so we will have to get back to that.
