MaryAnne at Mama Smiles has a lovely blog about “celebrating everyday parenting through education, crafts, and play.” She is the first friend I met through this blog and has been an incredible support to me. MaryAnne has wonderful ideas for keeping her children engaged and entertained as they have fun learning about the world around them. I am thrilled to have a guest post on Malawi for her Exploring Geography series. Please click over to read it and then spend sometime looking around Mama Smiles.

Thank you, Jody! For your kind words, for your fascinating guest post, and for being a wonderful blog friend!
Thanks for your comments on my blog. Seems like bloggie friends are the best
I read your post on Mama Smiles and it was great! I had no idea Malawi was so crowded. Do you like the local food? I think that would be the hardest adjustment for me. I could get used to another culture’s food for vacation, but I think after a while, I’d miss what I was used to growing up.
I love the local food – probably too much, but it’s a very high carb diet and so I have to limit how often I eat it or I start gaining weight.
Oh yay!!!! I can’t wait to read it!:) I love her series and I would love to learn more about Malawi!!! I’m so glad you did this!!
OK, just read the post and I loved it:). Please, please share the recipe for nsima, the mustard greens, and khadingo! First of all it sounds delicious, and secondly, i think my kids would enjoy the process of rolling and dipping:).
